30 JULY 2008.- BRAVEHEART, THE OFFICIAL MOBILE GAME

Source: gamezone
From Artificial Life, Braveheart is a mobile title that puts gamers in the shoes of William Wallace, the Scottish hero from the epic film starring Mel Gibson. While the game doesn’t feature Mel Gibson’s likeness, the game does have you taking on a variety of enemy soldiers and working your way up to the rebellion against the English forces. While the experience is noticeably scaled down when compared to other strategy titles (even those of the mobile variety) and has some issues, it still controls pretty well and shouldn’t be overwhelming to casual players looking to try their hand at mobile strategy gaming.
In Braveheart players take on the role of William Wallace, the legendary Scottish hero, who fights for Scotland’s freedom by plotting attacks against their English suppressors. Players must attack and guard six locations from the English, including Sterling, Paisley, Falkirk, Edinburgh, Lanark and York in 10 heroic real-time strategic missions. Alongside his fellow freedom fighters, Robert the Bruce, Mornay and Lachlan, William Wallace battles the enemies’ infantry, cavalry, foot soldiers and leaders. After conquering a town, players must then guard it against counterattacks. Characters, missions and locations featured in the game follow the events from the Braveheart movie. For each mission there are three different levels of difficulty in which the number of enemies and adversaries varies. All missions must be completed strategically without losing William Wallace or any of his companions.
The game is already available on Artificial Life’s m-commerce portal, www.botme.com, and will soon be available on mobile operators’ portals and resellers worldwide.
"Braveheart" is also available on PC.

And if you see yourself as William Wallace, REMEMBER the auction!
Mel Gibson's William Wallace suede padded battle jacket, leather lace-up shoes, belt and Wallace clan kilt from 1995's Braveheart are going for between $30,000-$40,000 (£15,000-£20,000).
Blue Paint is not included.

31 JULY 2008.- ROBERT DeNIRO IN "EDGE OF DARKNESS"

Source: Boston Herald
It’s all supposed to be stealthy and secret, but we hear Robert DeNiro is thisclose to signing on to co-star in the made-in-Mass. movie “Edge of Darkness.”
The crime thriller, based on a popular BBC miniseries, stars Mel Gibson as a seasoned Boston police detective investigating the death of his activist daughter, played by Aussie actress Bojana Novakovic.
The creepy flick, which will be directed by Martin Campbell and written by Oscar-winning “The Departed” screenscribe William Monahan, will shoot in and around Boston and the Berkshires from Aug. 18 to December.
When asked about the DeNiro signing or which character the Hollywood heavy would play, the production company had no comment.
However, we do know that Boston Casting is holding an open call for age 18-plus Screen Actors Guild members from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Non-union talent pen call for age 18-plus will be seen from 2 to 4 p.m. Bring a photo and resume to 129 Braintree St., Allston.
Another open call for adult extras is Aug. 9 in Northampton. As always, do tell them the Track sent cha.

31 JULY 2008.- GIBSON'S DAUGHTER IN "EDGE OF DARKNESS"

Bojana Novakovic (born c.1981) is an AFI Award-winning, Serbian-born Australian actress.
Novakovic moved from Yugoslavia with her parents to Australia when she was seven-years-old. She speaks fluent Serbian/Croatian, and because of this, she works as a professional translator for theatre and film in between acting commitments.
Her love for acting started at age twelve, when she appeared in her first play. At age fifteen, she was cast in her first film.
Her film credits include Blackrock, Strange Fits of Passion, Solo, The Monkey's Mask, "Thunderstruck" and the Serbian language film "Optimisti". Some of her many theatre credits are "Criminology", "Eldorado", "The Female of The Species", Death Variations, Loveplay, Away and Romeo and Juliet, and her television credits include "Satisfaction", The Cooks, Wildside, Water Rats, Heartbreak High and Murder Call. In 2003 Novakovic played Randa in the ABC mini-series Marking Time, a role which won her an AFI Award for Best Actress in a leading role in a Television Drama or Comedy.
Novakovic studied at The McDonald College in Sydney (where she was Dux of 1998)[1], and graduated from NIDA in 2002. She was also a gymnast, and works extensively with refugees in Australia.

1 AUGUST 2008.- DARIUS JEDBURGH

Source: IGN
According to The Boston Herald, De Niro "is thisclose to signing on" for "Edge of Darkness".
The paper did not specify what role De Niro would play, but given De Niro's interest in the CIA (he directed and co-starred in The Good Shepherd) it seems plausible that he might play Darius Jedburgh, the CIA agent portrayed in the original by Joe Don Baker.

2 AUGUST 2008.- CASTING CALL IN NORTHAMPTON

EXTRAS NEEDED!!!

Source: The Republican Newsroom
NORTHAMPTON - You won't get to skip down a yellow brick road or scream "Stella!" in a sweaty T-shirt, but aspiring actors can tap their inner Judy Garland and Marlon Brando at a casting call for a new Mel Gibson movie on Aug. 9.
Boston Casting Company is looking for people to play doctors, nurses, lawyers, court officers, police and, yes, older hippies in the film "Edge of Darkness," some of which will be filmed in and around Northampton this fall. The plot involves a Boston police officer (Gibson) who witnesses the brutal murder of his daughter. His investigation pulls him into a world of government cover-ups and corporate intrigue (Northampton).
Julie Arvedon, the director of marketing for Boston Casting, said the open call will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Atwood Drive. The company is hiring both union and non-union actors.
In addition to the above-mentioned roles, the film is looking for "punks" between the ages of 18 and 22, gym employees, a court stenographer and a man in a wheelchair. It could use also seniors for a scene involving a stretching class and women who are comfortable sitting around locker rooms in towels, according to Arvedon.
Prospective extras must be 18 or older. People trying out may dress for specific roles, but there is no required attire. The company is looking for a certain authenticity, however, particularly with the older hippies.
"We'd love people with protesting experience," Arvedon said.
Angela Peri, the owner of Boston Casting, said the most important trait she looks for is attitude.
"If you want to be an extra, the first thing you've got to do is have a good attitude," she said. "We're not going to hire the mope."
Peri stressed that being an extra involves 12-hour days that often start before dawn and include a lot of standing around. She recommends bringing a book.
Oh, and one other thing: Don't try to talk to the stars.
"If you talk to Mel Gibson, you will be thrown off the set immediately," she said.
That goes double for the director.
Non-union extras are paid $112 for a 12-hour day. Union actors get $130 for eight hours and overtime after that. Everyone must bring a head shot and a resume or brief biography.
Despite the time demands and modest recompense, Peri said it's not a bad job.
"I look at it this way," she said. "You get a free lunch and spend the day with Mel Gibson. Who's better than me? You could be out there breaking rocks all day."
According to industry reports, "Edge of Darkness" is an adaptation of the popular British television serial of the same name. It will be directed by Martin Campbell, whose films include the James Bond movie "Casino Royale." Producer Graham King and writer William Monahan both won Oscars for their work on the Martin Scorsese film "The Departed."
Based on discussions between film people and local officials, scenes in "Edge of Darkness" could be shot on some downtown streets and in the Hampshire County Courthouse. Filming will reportedly take place in the fall to take advantage of the foliage.

FIRED for talking to Mel Gibson!!!

3 AUGUST 2008.- "MONA´S DREAM" WAS JUST A "SOMEONE´S DREAM"

Source: indepndent.com
The story in The Malta Independent on Sunday last week about the shooting of a film, Mona’s Dream, led to a certain amount of international reactions and other unsuspected links to Malta.
Originally, the story as it appeared on The Malta Independent on Sunday, appeared on an Iranian blog, but some of its main assertions – that it will be a $10 million feature film, as well as the link to Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions film company are non-existent.
Nor has it been decided whether the film will be shot in Malta.

The 18 inch-high T.I.E. fighter famously knocked Darth Vader's ship out of a trench in the 1977 movie.
A hoverboard ridden by Michael J Fox in the Back to the Future films went for $55,000 (£27,938).
The sale, by Hollywood auction house Profiles In History, mainly focused on visual effects and props.

4 AUGUST 2008.- MEL GIBSON LOOKALIKES

Source: Boston Herald
Boston Casting is keeping an eye out for Mel Gibson lookalikes. The state's largest casting company needs a few good men who resemble the Aussie actor to work as the star's stand-in during the filming of "Edge of Darkness," in which the "Mad Max" actor plays a Boston police detective. To be considered, you must be about 5-foot-10 and bear a "striking physical resemblance" to Gibson. (Hopefuls should e-mail a headshot and resume to edge.photodouble@gmail.com by tomorrow.) "Edge of Darkness," a thriller directed by Martin Campbell and costarring Robert De Niro, is shooting in the Bay State until December

4 AUGUST 2008.- CASTING CALL FROM PAST SUNDAY

"I WANNA BE THE FIRST"
Aspirant waiting for the casting call that will take place on August 9 in Northampton

Source: "On the Edge"
Bloggery Reader "On the Edge" had this to say about the Edge of Darkness Casting Call from this past Saturday:
I went today to the casting call and I just got through the line just in time. It started pouring buckets 2 seconds later. There were tons of people but they said they would be using 3000 people so I am sure almost everyone will snag some part. They said Martin Campbell will be selecting many of the extras personally. They also asked if we played Golf and what car we drive.

6 AUGUST 2008.- KIWI COP TO TEAM UP WITH MARTIN CAMPBELL

Martin Campbell

Source: Stuff.co.nz
Linwood Community Constable Stef Harris will team up with acclaimed Hollywood film director Martin Campbell on the movie Edge of Darkness.
"It will be a great opportunity to see how a major film gets put together in the United States," Harris, who has more projects lined up in Christchurch, said.
Harris was one of three finalists awarded the Air New Zealand Inspiring New Zealanders Scholarship in Film Award for 2007 after being interviewed by Campbell in Los Angeles in January.
His trip was originally scheduled for last February, but the Hollywood writers' strike put paid to that.
Harris is also working on a new comedy/crime movie titled La Bora and has secured Film Commission backing for the project. Next January, he starts shooting another comedy in Temuka with a small crew and a cast of 50.
The plot is inviting. A small-town inventor who spent 30 years building a car which runs on water suddenly dies leaving people wondering if there was any truth in the rumour.
He will be working with the same crew who worked on his award-winning film, The Waimate Conspiracy, a mock documentary that explores the issue of Maori land claims.
The critically acclaimed movie took out best film at the Wairoa Maori Film Festival, Best Film at the DigiSPAA Australian SCreen Producers' Association, Best Feature Film at Canadian Dreamspeakers Aboriginal Film Festival, Canada, and Best Digital Film at the Air New Zealand Screen Awards.

6 AUGUST 2008.- MORE INFO

Source: On the Edge
More info from Bloggery Reader "On The Edge"
Forgot to mention they said Deniro had just signed on the previous day. I guess its old news now. One more interesting thing they noted was that it would be filming from August to at least December and the schedule was irregular. They also pointed out that all extras were to develop a character and that no one would be allowed to wear any bright colored clothing. The whole movie will be dark and gritty. There are also rumors swirling that there will be a staged protest in front of the State House just in time for the real elections. Sounds truly awesome.
And then this from our friends at the Boston Globe:
Over 1,000 people turned out this weekend for a chance to appear in a new movie starring Mel Gibson. The wannabe film stars flocked to the Braintree Street offices of Boston Casting, hoping to land a role in "Edge of Darkness," which begins shooting here later this month. Boston Casting founder Angela Peri (left, center) said it's not bad being an extra. "What a way to spend a day - $112, free lunch, and hanging with Mel Gibson," she said. "What could be better than that?" The film, written by "Departed" scribe William Monahan, is about a strait-laced BPD detective, played by Gibson, whose 24-year-old daughter is murdered on the steps of his home. Robert De Niro is set to costar.

7 AUGUST 2008.- GIBSON AND GLOVER UP FOR "LETHAL WEAPON 5"???

Source: ComingSoon.net
Hollywood tracking board TrackingB.com reports that Shane Black, who wrote the first Lethal Weapon movie, has written a spec script for Lethal Weapon 5 without telling anyone. The site adds that he contacted franchise producer Joel Silver and said that he wanted to continue the story.
This time, homicidal Riggs (Mel Gibson) is about to retire, but pulls Murtaugh (Danny Glover) out of retirement to solve one final case, before they both officially head off into the sunset.
TrackingB.com says that Gibson and Glover are down to return, but no deals have been signed.
The first film was released in 1987, the second in 1989, the third in 1992 and the fourth in 1998.

7 AUGUST 2008.- ARE YOU A WOMAN IN YOUR LATE 30s TO EARLY 50s???

"I´m perfect for the ROLE. I know that I´m 23 and I don´t own a hybrid, but Mel Gibson is so CUTE!"

And that Boston Casting is seeking Prius-driving women for Mel Gibson’s flick “Edge of Darkness,” which begins filming in Massachusetts Aug. 18. If you are a woman in your late 30s to early 50s, own a hybrid and would be willing to be a background performer, e-mail a photo of yourself, a photo of the enviro-friendly wheels, and the rest of your stats to edge.vehicles@gmail.com.
