6 AUGUST 2007.- RUMOURS???

Source: moviehole.com
We've received reliable word that Warners are in the early stages of trying to relaunch the popular action series. Not a bad idea, everyone loves the films, and Mel Gibson could really do with a hit or two right now. Will it happen? I'd say there's a much better chance of it happening now but it ain't going to be easy convincing everyone that a fourth sequel is worthwhile. It's going to have to be a strong script.
'Candlestick' works for one of the big men involved in the series - and offers us a little update.
"Hey Clint, still working over here at [place of employment removed] as [position]. Probably no surprise to hear, but there's more Lethal talk. Apparently the whole trend of resurrecting old action heroes, like John McClane (in "Live Free or Die Hard") and John Rambo has spurred them on. Twelve months after Gibson turned down the offer to do a fifth one, they're trying again. Something might have because it seems to be going somewhere. That's this week anyway. We shall see. Danny Glover's not committing until he sees a script."
Director Richard Donner apparently has a script... or an outline... or something he thinks is worthwhile. A couple of years back he sounded keen anyway.
"It's up to Mel," Donner said. "If he says yes then there's another Lethal Weapon. I have a great story, I'd love to do it and put Lethal Weapon to bed."
"If they want to go and make it without Mel well, go ahead and be my guest but it's not for me. Mel is Lethal Weapon," he said. "It was hard for Mel to do Lethal 4. It was really hard on him. For Lethal Weapon 5 it would have to be a story that would be worthwhile, but I think maybe there is something out there."

7 AUGUST 2007.- AS FOR "LETHAL WEAPON 5", MEL GIBSON SAID...

"Oh no, I don't want to go there again...oh boy was that done to death. I just want to do things that really give me a kick".

9 AUGUST 2007.- HAUNTED PLACES 3

STIRLING CASTLE, Stirling (Scotland)

Standing on a rock commanding the important route to the north. Stirling Castle is a magnificent fortress, once the most important stronghold in Scotland. It has a long and violent history, from the 11th century until the Jacobite Risings of the 18th, and is associated with many of the monarchs of Scotland.

Following its capture by the English in 1296, Stirling remained under their control until its recapture in September of the following year after William Wallaceīs audacious victory at Stirling Bridge. The castle was as long in Scottish hands when it was wrested back by the English in July 1298 following Wallaceīs defeat at Falkirk.
The Scots retook the stronghold late in 1299, and this time they managed to cling on to it until another mighty siege by Edward of England in July 1304 forced them out one more. King Robert Bruceīs great victory at nearby Bannockburn in June 1314 saw the casrle return once more under Scottish control. But this time, rather than attempt to hang on it, Bruce ordered the destruction of its defences so that the fortress could not be held against him again.

James II was born here in 1430, as was James III in 1451. Mary, Queen of Scots, was crowned in the old chapel in 1543, and the future James VI was baptised here in 1566. The Jacobites besieged the castle in 1746, but they soon had to withdraw.

The castle is said to have several ghosts. One is a "Pink Lady"; the apparition of a beautiful woman in a pink silk gown. She has been identified as the ghost of a woman searching for her husband who was killed when the castle was captured by Edward I. Her ghost is said to venture as far as the Church of the Holyrood, but she is thought to be most frequently seen at Ladies Rock, between the castle and the church.

The "Green Lady" is thought to a harbinger of ill tidings, often associated with fire. She may have been a lady in waiting to Mary Queen of Scots - believed to have saved Mary when her bedclothes caught fire - and has reputedly been seen in present times. Another story is that she was the daughter of a governor of the castle who killed herself by throwing herself from the battlements after her lover had been accidentally killed by her father.

The sounds of ghostly footsteps are said to have been heard in an upstairs chamber of the Governorīs Block, which may have been connected with the death of a sentry in the 1820s. In 1946 and 1956 the footsteps are said to have been heard by soldiers occupying the rooms.

O Caledonia, stern and wild,
Meet nurse for a poetic child!
Land of brown heath and saggy wood,
Land of the mountain and the flood,
Land of my Sires! what mortal hand
Can e'er untie the filial band
That knits me to thy rugged strand!

14 AUGUST 2007.- GUATEMALAN PRESIDENT LUNCHED WITH MEL GIBSON

Actor-director Mel Gibson lunched with Guatemala's president and admired Mayan murals in the capital's cultural palace Monday after a weekend jungle visit.
Gibson, 51, star of the "Lethal Weapons" movies and director of "The Passion of The Christ" and the Mayan epic "Apocalypto," has visited the country many times as a tourist, said Krista Kepfer, spokeswoman for President Oscar Berger.
"He is very interested in Guatemala as a tourist destination and in the culture," she said.
Gibson visited the Palace of Culture, where Berger showed him contemporary murals portraying aspects of Mayan life and the Spanish conquest. Afterward, the two lunched together at the presidential palace.
Over the weekend, Gibson visited the Mayan ruins of El Mirador deep in the northern Peten jungle, Kepfer said.
The visit was private and neither Gibson nor Berger made any statements to the news media.

Hollywood actor and director Mel Gibson ate lunch with Guatemala's President Oscar Berger Monday to discuss his plans to make a movie or documentary in a Mayan archaeological site, officials said.
Berger also gave the actor a tour of the National Palace, the former government headquarters in the Central American country's capital, but the two did not speak to reporters.
The Oscar-winning director of "Braveheart" spoke to Berger about his plans to film in a Mayan archaeological site in Peten department, 600 kilometers (370 miles) north of the capital, according to sources from the president's office.

EL MIRADOR (Version 4)
Deep in the Guatemalan jungle, Richard Hansen uncovered huge Mayan carvings in the 1980s. In 2007, El Mirador has turned out to be the grandest Mayan city of all, a 15-square-mile collection of buried temples and pyramids, linked by limestone causeways to dozens of smaller cities, which at times battled other Mayan regions for supremacy.
In 2005, Richard. Hansen recruited influential patrons, including Mr. Gibson, whose popularity has soared in Catholic Latin America with the success of "The Passion of the Christ."
Since then, they go on counting on Mr. Gibson's help, who a couple of years ago agreed to serve on the board of Mr. Hansen's foundation. MG is contributing money to the project as well and has visited the site on several occasions. Mr. Hansen and another board member, Alan Nierob, said that Gibson also planned to be a spokesman for the Mayan park project, but they did not specify Melīs precise role.
Our bet: Gibson and Berger talked about the future and the present of the archaeological excavation. Movies and hospitals, zero points!

15 AUGUST 2007.- ED LIMATO WINS

A Hollywood employment dispute ended Monday when an arbitrator decided that Ed Limato, a longtime agent for stars like Steve Martin and Mel Gibson, could leave International Creative Management for a rival and take his clients with him.
The arbitration, conducted by a retired state judge, was private but legally binding. The agency and Mr. Limato, its former co-president, were locked in a battle over whether the agency could block Mr. Limato's departure after demoting him last month. The venerable agency no longer wanted Mr. Limato in a management role, but it wanted his roster of clients.
I.C.M. is hopeful that at least some of Mr. Limato's clients will stay behind. Although none have given hints of their plans, most have worked with Mr. Limato for the bulk of their careers and are expected to remain loyal to him.
Losing Mr. Limato's clients could lead to the defection of other I.C.M. agents and actors and - because stars like to be around stars - would probably make it harder for the agency to rebuild its motion picture department.
