2 MARCH 2010.- MEL GIBSON LOVES MISERABLE ROLES
Source: Contactmusic
Mel Gibson finds it ''thrilling'' to play characters who are down on their luck because it helps him realise just how great his own life is.
The Hollywood actor - who stars as Thomas Craven, a homicide detective investigating the death of his activist daughter in 'The Edge of Darkness' - enjoys taking on unhappy roles, despite how difficult they can be, because it makes him appreciate his own life.
He said: "I'm not good at suffering. I scream my lungs out and hate it. But there's one advantage to it: you become humble and in the end you will find redemption. I admit it's a very thrilling process for me... I like to deal with it over and over again."
The 54-year-old star spent six years working behind the camera before making his comeback with 'The Edge of Darkness', and he decided to take on the role because he has started to realise time is precious.
He told German TV channel Tele 5: "I am what I am. Everyone's biding their time and one day will be your last and your life will be over. It's getting worse and worse and then you die. But since I've passed the big 50 I've chosen my projects more carefully. When you realise that half of your life has gone by you don't want to do s**t stuff anymore.
"I make clear-cut decisions now and only want to make films that are important to me. Everything else would be a waste of my lifetime. I prefer going fishing to doing a film, that's no use to me."

2 MARCH 2010.- FRENCH TO HONOUR GEORGE MILLER
Source: ABC online
Australian filmmaker George Miller is to be honoured with a prestigious French award for his contribution to cinema.
Miller will join a select group of foreigners when he receives the Order of Arts and Letters at a ceremony at a French Film Festival gala later today in Sydney.
"George Miller is a well-known director in France," said Jean-Jacques Garnier, the French Consulate's cultural attache.
Mr Garnier says Miller will be presented with the award for "his life achievement as director and what he gave to cinema in Australia and around the world."
Miller gave up a career as a doctor to concentrate on film, directing and co-writing 1979's Mad Max starring Mel Gibson.
He went on to direct Witches Of Eastwick (1986), Lorenzo's Oil (1992) and Babe: Pig In The City (1998).
In 2007, he won an Oscar for the animated penguin movie Happy Feet.
Miller is currently working on a 3D sequel to Happy Feet, as well as Mad Max 4.

2 MARCH 2010.- "HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION" LOOKS FOR A CHILD
Source: el universal
To find a child to share adventures with Mel Gibson in the film How I Spent My Summer Vacation, which will begin filming in late March, is not been an easy task.
"We are very tight in time and it is very important to find the right child because we´ll start filming late this month," said Mauricio Lule. Casting will take place from 10:00 to 19:00. on 5, 6 and 7 March at the Olympic Pool (Mexico City).
"We are looking for a no blond-haired child between 8 and 11 years, it is essential to speak good English, but in general, any child who speaks English and Spanish, can attend the casting call. They need no acting experience whatsoever!"
"It's a great opportunity because the child will work alongside with Mel Gibson," he said.
Before coming to Mexico City, a casting call took place in Monterrey, and around 150 children traveled from all over the country to be at the audition.

4 MARCH 2010.- "THERE'S NO MORE FUN THINGS LEFT"
Source: Times of India
Hollywood actor Mel Gibson, who is battling his addiction to nicotine after quitting last year, says it would have been much easier for him to quit if his mother hadn't been a smoker when she was pregnant with him.
"It is a hellish habit to break. Your neurons are involved. My mother smoked when I was in her womb. I first had one when I was nine years old and I thought, 'Yes, I missed this!' I knew I missed it," Hollywood.com quoted him as saying.
"And 45 years later, after every single artistic decision; every decision I'd ever made was done with a cigarette. To not have that is pretty hectic. It's worse than crawling the walls, which I did for a while.
"There's no more fun things left. I just don't do anything fun anymore; but that's dying isn't it? I mean you die in stages. You let things go in pieces. It's mostly over halfway through."
Gibson admits quitting smoking is just the start of a new health regime for him. "I try and eat right and exercise a little."

4 MARCH 2010.- GIBSON TO BE AWARDED FREEDOM OF TOWN IN COUNTY MEATH
Source: irishcentral
The town of Trim in Co. Meath has given Mel Gibson a bit of good news to savor, even though his latest turn in front of the camera, Edge of Darkness, has pretty much flopped at the box office ($42 million in takings, at least $80 million to produce . . . ouch!)
The town will bestow the “Freedom of Trim” on Gibson in April during a hot air balloon fiesta and medieval banquet.
No word on whether he’ll attend in person, but Trim should hold fond memories for the always controversial Gibson as he filmed his Oscar winning "Braveheart" there in 1995.
"I have great memories of the time here and all the men and women who worked with me and helped me achieve my vision,” he said at an Irish awards ceremony in 2008

7 MARCH 2010.- MEL GIBSON WON'T ATTEND ACADEMY AWARDS
Source: RadarOnline
Director/actor Mel Gibson and his lady love, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, walked the red carpet Thursday night at a pre-Oscar bash, and exclusively told RadarOnline.com that he’s skipping Sunday’s Academy Awards and watching it at home- naked!
We caught up with Mel, who was in an unusually playful mood, at The Hollywood Reporter’s first Nominee’s Night at Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s home in Los Angeles.
While everyone else is wondering what to wear, Mel told us he had other plans for Oscar night, “I’m not wearing anything,” he quipped.
We were surprised to learn that Mel, a two-time Oscar winner, is not attending Sunday's Academy Awards. “I plan on laying in front of my TV set probably wearing my birthday suit.”
Oksana laughed when RadarOnline asked if that’s how they always watch TV. “No, that’s not true,” she said.
The couple left the party early, presumably to tend to their new baby girl, four-month-old Lucia Anna. “We have to pay the ransom,” Mel joked.
As for his upcoming projects, the Braveheart star said, “I’ve got a couple of treats in store.... wait and see.”

7 MARCH 2010.- GIBSON IS SELLING LAVENDER HILL FARM
Source: Luxist
The Real Estalker dropped a bit of delicious real estate news on Friday, Mel Gibson is selling another of his Malibu properties. In 2008 he sold off several Malibu properties but held onto his compound in the gated Serra Retreat community. Lavender Hill Farm is a hacienda-style retreat on 2.57 acres. The grounds include fruit orchards, organic gardens, a tennis court, pool and three guest houses. The main house rambles over 5,400 square feet of space and offers the owners privacy in a second floor master suite with a separate sitting room. The remodeled home has six bedrooms total. The living and dining rooms have tiled floors and rough hewn beamed ceilings. Other details include a large country kitchen with tiled counters, breakfast room, library, a media/music room, office, exercise room and sun room. A particularly nice touch is the open entertainment pavilion with a fireplace and built in barbecue center. The Real Estalker says that Mel Gibson's ex-wife Robyn has been in residence at the home. It is listed at $14.5 million. Hopefully it won't stay on the market as long as his Greenwich, Connecticut home which has been listed for 3 years.

7 MARCH 2010.- INTERVIEW JODIE FOSTER
Source: L A Times
Jodie Foster's made a bunch of independent movies, she said, and she ran an independent film company -- so why doesn't she act in more of them?
"I don't think I'm well suited for them," she said on the red carpet Friday night at the Independent Spirit Awards, where she was to present an award with "Hurt Locker" star Jeremy Renner. Her very linear way of storytelling is "kind of boring" for indie movies, which are "more circular, defying genres instead of sticking to them," she says.
"I like doing films that are about solitary characters. I like a singular journey, as an actress -- I like a linear portrait, and those things aren't hugely 'indie movies.'"
She's in post production on "The Beaver," which she directed. It stars Mel Gibson and should come out this fall. Gibson, she says, "can do anything." (Good thing, because the film is about a guy who walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand.)
"He is crazy and wild, he has that wildness and the madness, but he is also an incredibly disciplined storyteller."

12 MARCH 2010.- CATECHISM CLASSES FOR CUTE OKSANA
Mel´s dream church

Source: Yazm
The National Enquirer has a story this week which is supposedly an “exclusive look” at the private church Mel is building in Agoura Hills, California. The accompanying article says:
Workers are putting the finishing touches on Mel Gibson’s 9,000-square-foot Holy Family Chapel in Agoura Hills, California - and the Enquirer has learned that Mel and Oksana, 40, will tie the knot there later this year. “This is Mel’s dream church and the center of his world,” an insider told the Enquirer. “He’s a devout traditionalist Catholic and views the chapel as his own house of worship where he can pray privately with family and friends.” Oksana - who gave birth to Mel’s eighth child, daughter Lucia, on Oct. 30 - is taking catechism classes at the church, according to the insider. “It’s important to Mel that he and Oksana are of the same faith,” the source added. “She’s learning the doctrines and traditions of his conservative sec." Gibson financed the chapel’s construction, and Lucia will soon be baptized there, said the insider. The chapel’s crowning glory is the huge mural behind the altar. “Mel handpicked an artist to paint a modern interpretation of the ascension of Christ,” said the insider. “He’s also commissioned someone to cast a bell for the church tower. Mel says he is more proud of his church than any of his other achievements.”

13 MARCH 2010.- MG SAYS VIKING MOVIE MAY BE HIS LAST
Source: latimesblogs
Last fall, movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Mel Gibson shook hands for the first time and then sat down for an intense five-hour meeting to discuss a topic of mutual passion – making an epic Viking film.
No Hollywood project is a slam dunk, especially a high-priced period piece, but if the ramping plan to create a maritime epic does work out, the meeting at the Santa Monica offices of Gibson’s company, Icon Productions, will be remembered as the day the Vikings set sail again in cinema.
There were two other men in the room that day, both of them Oscar winners: Producer Graham King, who set up the meeting, and screenwriter Bill Monahan, who is now at work on the script for the untitled project that will be directed by Gibson (who won an Academy Award for directing “Braveheart”) and star DiCaprio (a three-time nominee).
Gibson recently reflected on the meeting as a special moment for him – a chance to get underway with a project that started as a daydream during his youth. “It was the first movie I ever thought about making," Gibson said. "I saw it in my mind back when I was teenager. Seriously, it’s the first movie I wanted to make. And I think it will be the last film I direct. It’s the thing I have been going toward, in a way, since I was young, and I think when it’s done I may be finished.”
Gibson is an extremely wealthy man after directing and producing “The Passion of the Christ,” which he financed on his own and watched go on to make $612 million worldwide in theaters, and after some nasty scrapes with the press and public opinion in recent years, the 54-year-old sounded as if his Viking epic might be a fitting farewell to his Hollywood life. The people around Gibson, however, scoff at that notion and say that the Australian-bred actor and auteur is far too restless creatively to ever walk away from filmmaking.
Work is now underway on the script by Monahan, who penned the screenplays for “The Departed,” which starred DiCaprio, and “Edge of Darkness,” which starred Gibson, as well the 2005 Ridley Scott film “Kingdom of Heaven,” which was a battlefield epic set in the time of the Crusades.
"We're going hammer and tongs on the script right now,” Gibson said. “When I was 16, learning about the history of the English language I became fascinated with Vikings. And I imagined what they would sound like, how would they talk and that’s what I will be going for in this film. It’s a challenge though. There's never been a good Viking film, not that I've seen. I think I have found the right way to get into it, though, but I don’t want to say too much. The real problem is making those guys sympathetic. They were monsters."
King, the producer of “The Departed,” “Edge of Darkness” and the upcoming Johnny Depp-Angelina Jolie film “The Tourist,” said it was a casual conversation with Gibson about his childhood interest in the marauding Norsemen of antiquity that led to the meeting last fall.
“Mel and I were talking and he said he had always wanted to make a Viking movie and I knew, too, that Leonardo DiCaprio had a passion to make a Viking movie, I had heard that, so I decided to get all of us together on it,” King said. “The interest was in both of them for a long time and I can see why – the Vikings are so mysterious and for an actor to get his teeth into something like that could really lead to some interesting things. And it’s something the audience hasn’t seen in a long time.”
The most famous film on the seafaring warriors was probably “The Vikings” in 1958 with Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Janet Leigh and Ernest Borgnine. The film was jeered by critics, such as Bosley Crowther in the New York Times who called it a “giant charade” memorable mostly for its “ancient castles, grotesque rowboats and bushy beards.”
King, a U.K. native, greeted the film’s mention with a smirk. “I just remember all these guys with all their New York accents.”
Gibson said he has no plan to appear in the film but King said there’s a chance that might change. DiCaprio hasn’t ventured into sword-and-shield cinema since “The Man in the Iron Mask” in 1998 and “Romeo + Juliet” in 1996. Gibson praised the younger actor, whose next film in theaters is Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” this summer. Neither Gibson nor King would discuss the name or back story of the central character.
“We all knew we wanted to do it. It was just a matter of finding what the story would be, who our Viking was,” King said. “There’s not many sympathetic Vikings out there. And you have to find something of sympathy in one of them or what else is there to show, other than blood and guts and rape and pillaging?”
The challenge was finding a hero of noble deeds, sacrifice or sympathy – “Braveheart” had its William Wallace, “Gladiator” its Maximus and “300” its King Leonidas, and without any of them those hugely successful films would have been just extended sword fights.
“You can’t just show a film that is battle scene after battle scene, you have to show heroism and sympathy,” King said. “This is not going to be a cheap movie to make by any stretch of the imagination. We’ve got to make it interesting to a worldwide audience. To me, the greatest thing about this is we don’t have a book or a familiar story – we had a couple of guys doing a month and a half of research on all of the different Viking stories that are out there. We had that research when we went in the room and we had Mel driving that train during the meeting. So we sat there five or six hours and then we had another meeting and it was the same thing. And after that we felt we had a sufficient enough story and material to go off and write the script for a movie.”
What about “Thor,” which is now being filmed in New Mexico and tells the tale of the Norse god who isn’t really a Viking but does have the same taste in hats? “We’re not making a comic book, this isn’t about superheroes,” King said with a hint of disdain. “Although I’m sure everyone in town would love us to. This movie will be quite serious and very much for grown-ups.”

27 MARCH 2010.- MEL GIBSON, "THE HYPNOTIST"
Source: PerthNow
PERTH hypnotist Rick Collingwood is used to getting unusual requests, but even he was surprised when asked to teach his craft to movie star Mel Gibson.
Dr Collingwood has just returned from a 10-day stint training Gibson to hypnotise people at the Australian American actor-director's Malibu mansion.
After Gibson expressed an interest in learning hypnosis, his brother Chris contacted Dr Collingwood, who is the founder of the Australian Academy of Hypnosis, which is based in Perth.
"He's (Gibson) had an interest in hypnosis for many years and wanted to learn it," Mr Collingwood said.
"He (Gibson) certainly picked it (hypnosis) up really quickly - he's a very clever man.
"He's a very generous, benevolent man and helps a lot of people.
"I taught him how to induce hypnosis in other people - I think he will use it by helping people who need it, maybe those in his church."
In 2003, Gibson built a church in Malibu that follows a strict strain of Catholicism and has poured millions of dollars into the secretive group.
Dr Collingwood said he had worked with many actors during his 16-year hypnotherapy career, but was surprised when asked to train Gibson.
While staying at the star's home, he also met Danny Glover, who was filming a documentary with Gibson, and got a few snaps with a sword from hit film Braveheart.
"It was a very interesting 10 days in a nice Malibu mansion," Dr Collingwood said.
He said Gibson was treated unfairly in the media and many rumours and stories in circulation were untrue.
"The rag mags like to invent interesting things," Dr Collingwood said. "When I was there they were saying he was watching the Academy Awards naked - it was all over the news but it was rubbish - I was sitting with him and his family and Oksana (Grigorieva, his girlfriend).
"The way the media carry on about him being anti-Semitic is complete rubbish - I met his friends and some of them were Jewish."
Dr Collingwood used the trip to publicise his popular hypnotherapy CDs and will be moving to the US to expand his business.
He has also treated actor Joe Mantegna from hit drama series Criminal Minds for back pain.
Gibson's brother Chris lectures in neuro-linguistic programming and hypnosis and has just finished a book on the topic.

30 MARCH 2010.- BEST KISSERS OF HOLLYWOOD!
Source: www.entertainmentandshowbiz.com
Name the best male kisser of Hollywood. Quick! Okay then, name the best kissing scene of Hollywood and fast now! Tough to recall? Or getting overloaded with various options and puzzled which to pick up?
Let us do it for you. This article is dedicated to the best male kissers of Hollywood whose lips did the best job onscreen both in kissing as well as for smiling! This is completely opinion-based article and the readers are welcome to add their own picks.
1. Robert Pattinson – The Sexiest Man alive of 2009 became the Best Kisser in 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Thanks to his costar Kristen Stewart for joining him in the act in Twilight. Though the kiss didn’t last for long, neither was it a very sexy one. But still thanks to RobSten, the kiss was termed passionate indeed.
2. Leonardo DiCaprio – His kisses in the most popular film in Leonardo’s career, Titanic could be termed as one of the best kisses in Hollywood. And we are not missing out the main contributor of the smooch, Leonardo DiCaprio. He was evidently so much into the act with Kate Winslet that it was just the perfect blend of passion and romance along with tenderness. Moreover, not to forget the feast to eyes kiss between Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the movie Romeo and Juliet as they smooch in the elevator. In one word…hottt!
3. Tobey Maguire – Who can forget the upside down kiss of Spiderman? The half-masked Maguire hanging on his head down putting his adorable lips on Kirsten Dunst became the talk of the town post Spiderman. You need to watch it to believe that there could be a passionate kisser behind that innocent looking creature called Tobey Maguire.
4. Sylvester Stallone – When he kisses the bombshell Sharon Stone in Specialist, one forgets that the best physique man could be the best kisser too. The sexy and passionate liplock between the two hot looking actors is one to ogle at forever. And look at those lovable lips of Stallone! Those to die for!
5. Mel Gibson – Remember the masculine kiss he shares with Sigourney Weaver in “The Year of Living Dangerously”? Gibson grabs the hand of Weaver, pushes her against the wall and then presses his lips against hers to kiss her with perfect masculine intensity. Whew…simply delicious!
Lots more to add…but then only the best five of my choice gets entry!
