      In 1995, Gibson performed the voice role of colonist John Smith in the animated Disney film Pocahontas.
      Pocahontas is a musical-romance. The film is based on the legendary encounter between Pocahontas, daughter of the Indian chef Powhatan, and Captain John Smith, a soldier sailor sent to the New World as part of a British expeditionary force to build a settlement called Jamestown and bring back gold to fill the empire´s coffers.

"CHIKEN RUN"


      In 2000, Gibson voiced his second feature-length animated role, Chicken Run
      Gibson gives his voice to Rocky, a cocky yank rooster.
      While the chickens on evil Mrs. Tweedy´s farm dream of a better life, a clever hem named Ginger is hatching plans to fly the coop. Every escape attend goes fowl until Rocky crash-hand into the coop. Ginger asks Rocky to teach them to fly but Rocky has got a secret. He can´t fly. Nevertheless, with teamwork and hard determination, the fearless flock plots one last daring attempt for freedom.
      Cinemagicians Nick Park, Peter Lord and their cohorts at Britain Aardman Studios continue to animate the old-fashioned way, filming one small movement of a 3-D clay figure at a time. Their work has already scored several Academy Awards in the Best Animated Short Film category.

  • The $40 million CHICKEN RUN is part of a five-picture deal with DreamWorks.
  • Where nothing in computer animation is real, in stop-motion animation the animators film actual plasticine figures moving acroos miniature sets- one frame at a time. Each second of film comprises 24 shots, and the creators must make minuscule adjustments to their characters after each click of the shutter to create the illusion of continuos motion.
  • The film employed some 300 people and took more than two years to shoot.
  • "Chicken Run" is based on World War II prison movies "The Great Escape" and "Stalag 17".
