FATIMA.- THE FACTS.

On May 13, 1917, three children--Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta-- went out into the valley of the Cova da Iria near the village of Fatima in Portugal. They had taken their parents' sheep out to graze. About noon, the children were startled by a sudden flash of lightning. Fearing that a sudden storm would overtake them, they ran in the direction of the little cave. As they turned, they were startled to see a Beautiful Lady standing in one of the little oak trees nearby. It was the first time that Our Lady of the Rosary first appeared to the children. For six months, from May 13 through October 13, 1917, the Lady relayed three divine secrets and instructions to rid the world of sorrow and restore Christian devotion.

The word of happenings at Fatima gradually leaked out to the other towns and villages of Portugal, and were even reported in other parts of Europe. Lucia and her cousins suffered greatly at the hands of the disbelieving ruling class, who ridiculed and briefly imprisoned them, but in September of 1917, Our Lady said to the children: "Tell them that in October I will give a sign so great that all will be forced to believe in me". The 13th of October was seen the great miracle of the sun, during which the sun turned blood red and began to dance in the heavens; it even began to leave the sky and throw itself into the crowd of over seventy thousand people who watched in terrified wonder.
In 1919 Francisco died of the Spanish flu at age 11. Jacinta died a year later, alone in a hospital, fulfilling Our Lady of Fatima's prophesy that She would soon come for them.
After the deaths of her cousins Lucia was lost and alone, and so on May 13, 1921, four years after the first apparition, she accepted an offer to go to private school run by the Dorothean order of nuns. In 1934 Lucia took her final vows as a nun, becoming Sister Maria Lucia of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart. She later transferred to the Carmelite order at the Carmels Santa Theresa in Coimbra, Portugal.
Sister Lucia died in February of 2005.

JOHN PAUL II AND THE THIRD PROPHESY.

The first two prophesies revealed by the Virgin Mary at Fatima referred to the two World Wars and the third one, the long kept secret that Sr Lucia ultimately revealed, foretold the 1981 attempt on Pope John Paul II's life.
In 1982, during his first visit to Fatima, Pope Jonh Paul II credited the Madonna of Fatima with his survival following the assassination attempt by Turkish right-winger Mehmet Ali Agca in St Peter's Square.

In 2000, when the Pope visited the shrine at Fatima once again, Cardinal Soldano, was authorised to read a statement on behalf of the pontiff. This text described the third prophecy: "the 'bishop clothed in white' makes his way with great effort toward the cross amid the corpses of those who were martyred. He too falls to the ground, apparently dead, under a burst of gunfire." The "bishop clothes in white" is identified as John Paul II and the fact is connected directly with the 1981 attempt.

MEL GIBSON.

In September of 2003 Mel Gibson, director of The Passion of the Christ, travelled to Fatima to show the film to religious institutions. He visited Sr Lucia's convent in Coimbra and managed to secure an agreement to show 'The Passion' to the sisters. Later, Gibson returned to Portugal and made another secret visit to the convent to meet with Sister Lucia.
Gibson bought the rights to Stealing From Angels only 10 days after the passing of Fatima’s Sister Lucia, a death marking the end of an era that began in 1917.

THE BOOK: STEALING FROM ANGELS.

Stealing From Angels is a work of fiction.
Stealing From Angels is the story of a young Irish man who leaves his hometown to escape a life of petty crimes only to stumble into a life of major crime in New York. When he meets Maria, life takes on new meaning. Together they move to Italy, to Maria´s hometown, in search of legitimate success but become irrevocably connected to the murder of Pope John Paul and the third secret of Fatima. When his relationship with Maria becomes strained, he finds himself in possession of the world´s most sought after secret and with no one in the world to trust.

THE CONTROVERSY.

The "Firm", the lodge P2, the third secret of Fatima, the mysterious death of Pope John Paul I, the conspiracy theory...TOO MUCH?
It is said that this book has caused a real storm in Vatican City. It is said that they have even posted a website message warning the faithful that all claims made by the book are rubbish. We´ve visited Vatican web site and they don´t mention "Stealing from Angels" anywhere.

THE FILM.- YES OR NO?.

Stealing From Angels would not only immortalize on screen the life of the children of Fatima, but that of the beloved Pope John Paul II, who survived a 1981 attempt on his life and openly credits the Fatima Madonna for his survival.
The fact is that this story is destined to be a controversial box office blockbuster in the same vein as The Da Vinci Code.
According to several sources, the film based on this novel might be released in 2006, but there´s nothing for sure.. For the moment, Icon Productions has refused to either confirm or deny this rumour.
Will Stealing From Angels hit the screens in 2006? Will this movie have the trademark of Icon Productions? We don´t know the answer to these questions, but we´re sure that the TRUTH IS OUT THERE ………..

"This life is just a testing ground. It’s not a popular view, I know. People will say that I’m a sort of mindless robot who’s using religion as a crutch to get through life. Well, I’m not a mindless robot, but I am using (religion) as a crutch to get through life."
